DAY 24 - MERRY CHRISTMAS EVE!!!

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVE!!!!

Adventer, you've made it to the final day. Sick of me yet?

Today's very special Christmas Eve slot contains a can of our Barrel Aged Christmas Ale -- arguably the only more festive beer than our traditional Christmas Ale. BA Xmas is a seasonal treat of a beer - it's our Christmas Ale, aged in bourbon barrels - giving our classic Winter Warmer yet another layer of complexity and warmth. It's a sippin' beer for sure, and it's truly delicious. Give it a merry ol' try tonight, or leave it out for Santa to try if you prefer. Up to you, you bought/were gifted the box.

And as not to disappoint on Christmas Eve, make sure you lift up the slots out of your box today. There's a VERY SPECIAL Cricket Press print under there that, genuinely, no hyperbole, is one of the coolest things I've ever seen. If you haven't found it yet I won't spoil the fun, but I hope you love it.

As you close your advent journey I want to say a big ol' thank you. Thank you for purchasing, thank you for reading, and thank you for supporting West Sixth & local beer. It truly means the world to me, and our entire team of folks who specially curated this year's Advent Box. We work hard every year on this, and we hope you see that come through in the items we chose to include.

Cheers, Merry Christmas, and Happy New Year,

-- Madison (Social Media/Blog, Advent Elf, token Gen Z representation), Katie (The Actual Santa Claus, Advent Curator, Merch Queen), Kelly (Creative Director, Head of Advent Elves, Team Leader) , Tim (Kentucky Events Manager, Advent Elf, Organizational Wizard), & Clarke (Graphic Designer, Advent Elf, Card Game Aficionado)

DAY 23 - SAUCE (Beer)

Legend has it, that if you open this one with a can opener, it will plop out & maintain its ridges just like those Ocean Spray Cranberry Sauce cans. Of course, that's not true, and I genuinely hope no one tries it. There's liquid in there, you'll make a god-awful mess.

Despite my special brand of humor, I'm psyched about today's beer. It's the recently released Holiday Edition of our Cranberry Sour. I don't know what the deal with us and Orange has been this year, but I can't say I'm mad about it.

This year's Cranberry Sour is a fruited sour ale brewed with cranberry puree and, you guessed it, orange citrus. Vibrantly red in color with tart cranberries and citrus layered throughout. If you like sours, and you like Cranberry Sauce, you're gonna dig this.

Get it nice and cold, and open it up WITH THE TAB, not a can opener. Please. Don't use a can opener. I'm literally begging.

DAY 22 - SNAKES IN A BOX!

AHHH MORE SNAKES!! How are you even surprised at this point? Didn't you hear all the squirming & slithering? Or surely one of them has shed its skin by now. Jk jk jk -- I HOPE you've caught onto what a rascal I am by this point.

Today's slot contains your third tiny snake cake bottle to round out your trio. Our brand new Chocolate Orange Snake Cake is a wonderful homage to those orange-shaped chocolate candies we all got as kids at Christmas. If you're a fruit & chocolate person, you are gonna love this beer.

Our original Snake Cake recipe, with heaps of citrusy orange added to the batch, and aged to perfection. 13% ABV. Save it for Christmas Day & enjoy it with your chocolate orange, or enjoy it now. I don't make the rules. I just type stuff online, that you hopefully want to read.

Whenever you decide to crack this guy open, we hope you enjoy the citrusy-chocolatey nostalgic decadence as much as we have this year.

DAY 21 - It's Kentucky, y'all!

ROCK ON it's a West Sixth rocks glass. We might be a beer company, but we are well aware we are in the heart of Bourbon Country. Enjoy your favorite Kentucky Bourbon in your West Sixth rocks glass, or maybe pour one of our barrel-aged offerings in there. However you use it, we hope you think it's as cool as we do, and that you get tons of use out of your new glassware. #KentuckyProud

DAY 20 - ME WANT BEER.

Me want BIG FUZZY MONSTER!! (Said like the Cookie Monster's "Me Want Cookie"). Seriously, I know the monster on this can is green, but if you're telling me the name alone didn't conjure up a picture of the big fuzzy muppet with a binge eating disorder, I don't believe you.

I love the name of this beer. Just. So much. More importantly, it's also an excellent beer. If the Cookie Monster was of drinking age, I think it'd be one of his favs.

A Hazy Double IPA with big notes of mango & papaya. Goes down like fruit juice, with just enough bitterness from the hops to remind you it is still beer. I'm really a big fan of this one, and I think if you like our other hazy, Fuzzy Fields, you're also really going to enjoy Big Fuzzy Monster.

Give it a go, and let us know what you think! And if you're brave, tag us in a video of your best Cookie Monster impression. We might just share it on our stories.

DAY 19 - Look at you, all exclusive!

HISTORY LESSON TWO - SO, not only did the Aztecs put pepper in Chocolate, but they also really had an affinity for snakes. I am completely kidding, I have no idea if that's true, and frankly, I've written 19 of these blogs at this point and I'm too tired to do any more real research. That said, this is a really cool day on day 20. For the first time ever, we have included an ADVENT EXCLUSIVE bottle in the mix. This tiny Mexican Mocha Snake Cake is a 13% ABV treat - a Bourbon Barrel aged Imperial Stout with cacao nibs, vanilla bean, cinnamon sticks, and a blend of Ancho and Pasilla peppers added.

DAY 18 - Just a few ideas to get you writing...

Woot woot! Beer notes day! I don't know if you've caught on yet, but I'm a little bit of a writer myself, so I'm psyched about this notebook.

My first day at West Sixth, I received one of these paper journals as part of my welcome package, and I filled it up almost immediately. Now it sits among my pile of full & half full notebooks waiting to be opened again one day.

Yours is even nicer than mine was, because it's leather, and it's refillable. So, once you fill yours up, you can continue to use it! Just replace the inside with another paper journal (like the ones Field Notes makes - wink wink).

You can of course write anything you want to in it, but here's a list of ideas off the top of my dome:

1. Imagine you're a brewer trying to start a dance team. Write about that.

2. Tasting notes from that NuLu guided tasting that I know you're going on

3. To-dos

4. A Christmas List

5. A list of who's NOT getting a christmas gift this year (did your father in law say something racist? was your sibling a Karen to a cashier? did someone cut you off in traffic? that list should include all of those people)

6. A letter to your past self

7. A letter to your favorite West Sixth beer.

8. Beer Recipes

9. Foods to eat with beers

10. A poem/ode to your favorite west sixth location.

Those are just a few ideas, but like I said, write whatever you want. I'm not checking your work (or am I? 👀)

DAY 17 - Burning Daylight: A Movie by John Hughes (for legal reasons, that is a joke)

80s babies, how do you like this can? Personally, I think it would be John Hughes-approved. Not only is the can design 80s-retro-dance-movie epic, but the beer inside was one of the coolest releases of the year.

Burning Daylight Double IPA is a well-balanced Double IPA with a big malty backbone supporting the fruity, piney, resinous hop notes. I do love a hoppy beer, but a lot of times I find the doubles to be a little overwhelming -- not the case with Burning Daylight. Well-balanced is right. The hop profile is gorgeous, providing you with tons of flavor, and the right amount of bitterness, while also being an incredibly drinkable beer. Needless to say, I'm impressed, and our brewers knocked this one out of the park (as always). This guy clocks in at a fairly hefty 9.5% ABV -- so take your time with it, or you might truly burn some daylight.

Additionally, we tossed in an enamel pin & Burning Daylight sticker with this beer. Again, the can design is just so epic, that we had to make it into other things.

UP NEXT : BURNING DAYLIGHT, THE MOVIE: find out what happens when a team of craft brewers starts the hoppiest dance team around.

I am only joking, but tbh, wouldn't you watch that? I would.
